I am so very excited - finally Sunday, January 13th is here! Are you asking yourself, what is this chick talking about? Well, I am a HUGE Jane Austen fan, and tonight on PBS, Masterpiece Theatre starts it's THE COMPLETE JANE AUSTEN series. For 10 Sundays, Masterpiece presents adaptations of all of the Jane Austen novels, and a new biopic of her life.
Persuasion starts tonight, January 20th is Northanger Abbey; January 27th is Mansfield Park; February 3rd is Miss Austen Regrets; February 10, 17 & 24th is Pride and Prejudice (starring Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy); March 23rd is Emma; and March 30 & April 6th is Sense and Sensibility.

I'm a Jane Austen fan, but I seem to read the same ones over and over! I really enjoyed Persuasion last night, and am now, uh, ~persuaded~ to read it!
I'm a Jane Austen fan-atic -- I read all but one of her books at least once a year. Pride is my favorite, and Persuasion is a close second. I was a little disappointed by the adaptation Sunday night. The script took too many steps away from the original. It was a nice movie, if you can take a step away from the book, but I find myself unable to do so. Nevertheless, I will continue to watch.
Northanger Abbey may be the exception. I've just never gotten into that one. I've tried to read it a dozen times, but can never get into the plot. Maybe this adaptation will stir my interest and make me read "the other book."

I've not read Northanger Abbey either, but after last night's adaptation, I want to start it soon.
I wonder if the biopic will be similar to the big screen's Becoming Jane???
