Fans of the Pulitzer Prize winning author, Edith Wharton, take note: her newly renovated estate, The Mount, is facing imminent foreclosure. Though I have never been there myself, several blogs (Book Club Girl and the personal blog of author Josh Kilmer-Purcell) are trying to spread the word in order to save this historic landmark. If you're interested in taking a "virtual tour" of The Mount check out its official website, The Mount | Estate and Gardens. To contribute to the cause follow this link: Help Us Save the Mount!

Help Save the Mount, Edith Wharton's Estate
In lieu of a quote about her home or everyday life, I've included one of the funnier moments from Wharton's "The Age of Innocence:" "Mrs. Archer, who was fond of coining her social philosophy into axioms, had once said: 'We all have our pet common people---' and though the phrase was a daring one, its truth was secretly admitted in many an exclusive bosom. But the Beauforts were not exactly commom; some people said they were even worse" (III, 854).
